Cha cha changes!

Hey guys! I just wanted to make a post about some great changes on the way. Shutter
Bug photography is now going to be Sugar Blossom Studio. I love the new name and the fun new designing that I have been doing. I have been debating a new name for a while now, there are so many Shutter Bugs! I loved the meaning of the name for me, my dad always called me his lady bug. I will be having a grand opening sale on and specials for the month of June, our official Launch date. I am still working on the blog, website and facebook changes. Feel free to begin following and bookmarking our new pages. I will leave some links on the bottom. Here is a sneak peak at our new branding and logo, I think lol. Let me know what you guys think.

This weeks photo was inspired by my little love bug. She loves going to dance class. This week we got to see what they will be doing for their recital in a few months. So cute! A bunch of three year olds dancing has got to be one of the sweetest things on earth.

Cheese Cloth

There are many great uses for cheesecloth but I have been wanting some for photography props for newborns. There are many sellers on etsy that have them and I have even put them in my cart but I could never follow through and buy them. After all, Its a piece of fabric that I could buy and dye myself right?! I just couldn't see myself spending $12.00 on a piece of cheese cloth that would cost about 3 at JOANN'S. Last month when I received my coupons there were TONS of 40% off coupons that made me seal the deal. I bought a package that was 6 yards and I also got a couple of dyes. I think they turned out great and all three of mine cost less than I could have bought one from this seller (custom photo props ) on etsy. I can't wait to use them. I have a little baby boy that I am photographing next weekend!

Bahama Blue
DYLON
The dylon dye took longer but I love how bright it is. It also didn't  leave any marks on my hands when I was rinsing the fabric. I forgot to buy gloves at the store and I just wanted to get it done. lol

Royal Blue
RIT DYE

This one I dyed with tea. I didn't want something super dark or bright but I didn't want to leave it white. I just boiled a pot of water on the stove and added about 8 teabags. After about ten minutes I turned off the burner and added the cheesecloth to the tea. Just let it sit for about an hour and a half.

I had purchased some hair bands over the winter and I haven't got to really use them yet. When I was sorting them last week I realized that I had more than one that was cream. I decided that since this blue color was so great that I would dye the bow at the same time so that it would match if I decided to use this fabric for a little girl later.

Giveaways!

I have spent a somewhat large amount of time entering giveaways this week. I may have a small addiction. Like going to vegas, I probably will walk away with nothing but on the plus side I dont have to lose money to walkaway with out any. I have entered several and I swear that one of these days I will win. It really would be a great way to get some new props. So a few minutes of clicking the mouse and leaving a little love for all the vendors is totally worth it to me. One of these days maybe I can have a giveaway on here! Wouldn't that be fun. I have alot of growing to do before that could happen. Maybe I can do it in a year for a blog birthday party?! Here are some links to a few of the giveaways I have entered and some others that I plan on entering if I get a chance to do it today.

Welcome

Welcome to my new Blog.. As I have said before I am not the best blogger. I'm pretty forgetful and I never keep it going long. I will post some photos and some other fun things but it won't be on a daily basis. I really wish I was one of those people that could keep up a blog on a daily basis but I guess that my life really isn't interesting enough for that anyways.

My project 365 came to a screeching halt around day 17 when I got sick. From there I never really started again. I know, I know... Shame on me! I have decided to make it a bit easier for me and switch to a 52 week photo project.  This way I will have more time to actually get something done. I will be trying to follow the suggestions here (52 Week Project) Go figure, this week is GREEN! Haylee and I will be making some Minty Shamrock Cookies tomorrow. I found the recipe on a great blog that I am looking forward to following. We will be rolling them though!! I also have some other recipes up my sleeve that I am hoping to try. Hopefully will be making them sugar free! I also have some errands to run so I may make the sugar free stuff on Saturday!! We shall see. See you back here sometime.

No Sugar Added Blueberry Creme Brulee...

Total Sugar 1.4g Total Carbs. 1.7g

These are a great treat for low carb and low sugar living. They do not have the crisp sugar top like a typical creme brulee but they are still delish!!

Makes 8 4ounce Servings

2- Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1- Vanilla Bean
5- Egg Yolks
1/2 C- Splenda
3/4- Cup fresh blueberries
8- 4 ounce ramekins (or any small and shallow oven safe dishes)

1. Preheat oven to 235ºF. In a small heavy saucepan combine cream and vanilla bean (cut in half lengthwise and scrape the seeds out). Cook over medium-low heat about 15 minutes or until mixture just starts to simmer, DO NOT BOIL, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let stand for 15 minutes. Strain mixture to remove the vanilla bean and discard it.
2. In a medium bowl whisk together egg yolks and splenda until mixture is thick and combined. Gradually whisk in the warm cream into the egg and splenda mixture.
3. Place the ramekins in a large baking dish. Divide the berries among the 8 cups, (reserve a small amount of berries for the garnish). Pour the cream into your 8 ramekins. Pour HOT water into your large baking dish (just enough to go half way up the sides of your ramekins.)
4. Bake for about an hour. Test it with a pair of tongs and shake gently it should jiggle slightly in the center. Remove the ramekins from the water and cool on a wire rack. Cover and chill for about 2 hours. These can be made in advance and chilled overnight.
*** If you would like to have the crisp sugar top they will no longer be sugar free but here is how... Allow your creme brulee to chill over night. Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar (about 1/4 cup split between the 8 cups)over the top using a blow torch, heat sugar until a bubbly brown crust forms.
